Learning path — hammer8 in 30 minutes

A guided reading-and-doing order through the docs — from first sketch to assemblies — with practice parts to build.

Read a little, build a little. Each stop links the doc to read and gives a part to try.

1 · Orientation (5 min)

Read A tour of the interface and Navigating the 3D view. Practice: orbit, zoom, use the ViewCube, press Fit. Open the command palette (Ctrl/⌘ K) and run something from the keyboard.

2 · First solid (10 min)

Read Your first part (sketch → extrude), then Extrude (boss & cut). Practice: a 60 × 40 × 20 plate. Then a ⌀12 hole through it with an extruded cut — and change the extrude to 30 afterwards by double-clicking it in the tree.

3 · Control the sketch (5 min)

Read Sketching basics and Dimensions & constraints. Practice: re-draw the plate fully-defined: dimensions on width/height, the hole tied to the centre with relations. Drag a corner — nothing should move.

4 · Round, repeat, hollow (5 min)

Read Fillet & chamfer, Patterns & Mirror and Shell, Draft & Rib. Practice: fillet the plate's corners R5, pattern the hole ×4, shell the body to 2 mm walls with the top face open.

5 · Go curved (5 min)

Read Revolve, Sweep & Loft. Practice: a chess-pawn: sketch half its outline on Front and revolve 360°.
